25-27 June 2010

This was our 7th visit to Lunar wood. Fi and I went with the plan of building the toilet area.
We were to meet up with Dave and Cathy and spend a few days collecting the materials for the toilet block together and at least making a start on the construction… But things conspired for this not to happen.
So no toilet got built but a lot of bramble and bracken ‘whacking’ got done as well as much spoon carving. It also allowed time to co-ordinate the camp area and spend a bit of time scheming about all our future plans for the wood and how we will manage it.
The weather was incredibly hot and the wood gave much appreciated shade. Out in the Sweet Chestnut Coppice it was like an oven and the regrowth must be a good 3′-4′ higher than when we last visited only 4 weeks ago.
More and more species of plant are making themselves known, particularly in this area of Sweet Chestnut Coppice to the SE [Area A]: with the foxgloves now in full flower.
